I have received a job offer from a Big 4 Accountancy. The role is, however, an Advisory role in an aligned business with no Financial Services clients. Think more Food, Consumer Goods, etc.
I have been set a series of Pre-Employment checks including Address History, Work History and a Financial Propriety check.. "Have you ever failed to satisfy creditors in full?" and "Declare any CCJs/IVAs/Bankruptcies, etc".
I received a CCJ from a Lettings Agency/Landlord at my old student address in Jan 2015. I had dropped out of the University in 2012-13, given notice on the property and left within a month. However, two years later the Lettings Agency initiated a CCJ against me to my home address.. I missed the paperwork as it was sent to my home address and not to my new student home in another city.
The Agency entered receivership 2 weeks later (Jan 2015) and the parent company was liquidated not long after. I have therefore been unable to make arrangements to pay. The value was around £3100.
What can I do to ensure my offer of employment remains? Do you think I have a chance of working at the establishment or will I be dismissed out of hand because of a student CCJ?
Any help would be much appreciated!!
