The Playstart Creche service provides an opportunity for children to play and be cared for in a stimulating and creative environment whilst their parents benefit from a variety of parenting and family learning activities across Perth and Kinross.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the service for a Senior Lead Practitioner. In this role you will plan and organise the day to day operations of the service, including co-ordinating staff to provide creches in several locations. This will include working in partnership with a small number of other teams to plan allocation of the provision.

You will work closely with the Training, Playstart and Play Development Officer to support the development of the service to ensure it always delivers a high standard of care and a comprehensive range of appropriate activities, appropriate to the ages, needs and interests of the children attending the creche. Playstart Creche service is a registered childcare service.

A flexible approach will be required as at times there can be a need to work evenings; the contracted hours are 36 hours per week.

You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for Day Care of Children within 6 months of commencing employment and responsible for maintaining annual membership and hold a childcare qualification with one of the following:

SVQ Level 3 Social Services (Children & Young People)
HNC Childcare Early Education and Childcare
SVQ Level 3 Playwork
SVQ Level 3 Care Learning & Development
SVQ Level 3 Early Education and Childcare

You must be willing to work towards a Degree in Childhood Practice.

The successful candidate will be supported to access further training both award bearing and continued professional development.

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate experience within an early learning or childcare environment. The role also requires a good knowledge of child development and welfare, and the ability to work effectively with relevant governing bodies (SSSC, Care Inspectorate).

Ideally you will have experience of supporting staff development and managing a small staff team.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent planning and organisation skills; to maintain office procedures and systems; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents and carers, staff and other professionals to ensure the effective delivery of services.
