History


The company was founded in 1973, when Bill Bain and six other partners left The Boston Consulting Group to form a new consulting company. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the new company experienced substantial growth and opened several international offices, in London, Munich, Tokyo and San Francisco. By 2007, Bain had 37 international offices, employed about 2,700 consultants, and significantly raised its profile in IT, healthcare, financial services, and media services. Since the company was founded, Bain's consultants have served more than 4,600 clients in virtually every industry sector, helping them beat their competitors and pinpoint potential for new revenue, and leading them to sustained growth.
